Convert PNG to JPG

Convert PNG images to JPG right in your browser. PNG is lossless with full transparency support — perfect for logos, screenshots and graphics, but files are larger than JPG. JPG (JPEG) is the universal photo format: small files supported by every device and app, but lossy and without transparency.

The tool runs locally: your files are never uploaded, with no limits, no signup and no watermark. Batch processing and ZIP download are supported.

PNG to JPG: when it saves space and when it does not — measured

On September 23, 2026 we converted two kinds of PNG with this converter (JPEG quality 0.92, transparent areas filled with white): 20 photos saved as PNG, and 10 screenshots of web pages, 5 from a desktop and 5 from a phone. JPG size as a multiple of the PNG (smallest / median / largest):

What was convertedJPG vs PNG
Photos saved as PNG×0.07 / ×0.11 / ×0.15
Screenshots×1.08 / ×1.23 / ×1.50
Screenshots to WebP, for comparison×0.49 / ×0.56 / ×0.77

A photo stored as PNG shrinks about 9 times: the 12-megapixel example went from 18.6 MB to 2.2 MB. A screenshot does the opposite — every one of the ten grew, by 23% at the median. JPEG is built for smooth photographic detail; large flat areas and sharp text edges are what PNG stores best.

  • Convert photos: that is where JPG pays off.
  • Keep screenshots, diagrams and anything with text as PNG — or, if they must be lighter, convert them to WebP, which brought them to about half the PNG size.
  • JPG has no transparency: transparent areas become white. A logo on a transparent background should stay PNG.

Frequently Asked Questions

How do I convert PNG to JPG for free?

Upload your PNG files, the JPG format is already selected, click Convert and download the result. Everything runs locally in your browser — no signup and no watermark.

Are my files uploaded to a server?

No. The PNG to JPG conversion happens entirely in your browser. Your files never leave your device.

Can I convert multiple PNG files at once?

Yes — batch convert up to 20 files at a time and download them all as a single ZIP.

Will I lose transparency converting PNG to JPG?

Yes. JPG does not support transparency, so any transparent areas are filled (usually with white). To keep transparency, convert to PNG or WebP instead.

Will the quality drop?

Conversion uses high quality. JPG is lossy, but at maximum quality the difference is not noticeable.
