Convert JPG to PNG
Convert JPG images to PNG right in your browser. JPG (JPEG) is the universal photo format: small files supported by every device and app, but lossy and without transparency. PNG is lossless with full transparency support — perfect for logos, screenshots and graphics, but files are larger than JPG.
The tool runs locally: your files are never uploaded, with no limits, no signup and no watermark. Batch processing and ZIP download are supported.

On September 23, 2026 we converted 20 ordinary JPEG photos (3 to 30 megapixels) to PNG with this converter. PNG size as a multiple of the JPG: ×2.73 / ×3.79 / ×10.02 (smallest / median / largest). The 12-megapixel example went from 2.4 MB to 18.6 MB.
PNG stores every pixel without loss, so the result keeps exactly what the JPG had — including its compression artefacts. Detail that JPEG threw away when the photo was saved does not return.
- When it makes sense: editing in several rounds, where each JPEG save would add new loss; a service that accepts only PNG; a picture you will give a transparent background in an editor later (conversion by itself adds no transparency).
- When it does not: when the file has to be smaller. Then keep the JPG and compress it.
